In 1998, everything changed for businesses that store customer or staff data – and that’s pretty much all of them! In that year, the Data Protection act came into force and obliged companies to ensure the safe disposal of data.

Our company began life at about this time. We could see that the choice of data destruction companies was limited. Conversations with local businesses bore out that they were not getting the type of service that they wanted. So, we asked them what mattered to them.

Determined to create a company that would be talked about for being great at what we do, we set about building a business based around what customers wanted. As a family-run firm we were able to give a personal service and local businesses really liked the fact that they could talk to a “real” person on the phone, rather than a call-centre.

Our first customer was an accountancy firm that was relocating and needed to destroy archived accounts. We provided a shredding facility for them over a six-week period. They were delighted with our service.

So, our business grew. As well as accountants and solicitors we began working other sorts of private sector companies as well as the public sector and the general public.

But even as we grew, we kept one thing constant – our values. Our customers have always loved being able to speak to one of us and many are simply delighted that we are flexible and keen to please them.
